Proposal for moving forward – 2009 Feb 5

Here is an idea of how each time might create more focused objectives and learning. The objective is for each group to have something to present next Wednesday when Jeff Masten (TLC) is here to help us define our final objectives for the course. We would like to be able to send these to Jeff by the end of class today (by posting to the wiki page for each project).

Get into your project teams (not the GIS team) and review what you’ve done already as well as the comments I’ve made. Also think about what you learned about GIS and during the variability lab and how that information can help you.
13:45
Try to make succinct, clear objective statement(s). For example “To determine the length of greenway paths throughout the Triangle.” “To determine the type of land cover adjacent to greenway paths throughout the Triangle.” If you need help, flag down me or one of the graduate students. Post all of this in a coherent form on your team’s wiki page.

Now try to write down some specific action that your team can take to move toward accomplishing the objective(s). This includes things to learn, data to locate, library research to carry out, people to contact, experts to find, and so forth. Post all of this in a coherent form on your team’s wiki page.

Finish up.

Write up “muddy points” and submit to Hess.
